I know first hand the power of this sufi dervish dancing also known as the 'dzicker' in Egypt. I lived with Sufis in Egypt back in the 1980s and helped make a documentary about the Moullids (birthdays of saints) and spent many all nighters whirling with the dervishes . These people very much believe in the simple life and they were really genuine people. Here is a clip from the documentary in which I was a filming assistant and research.
