The True Servants of God: A Quranic Perspective
Let's not blindly follow those who lack the qualities of Ibad-ur-Rahman, for true guidance comes from righteousness, not mere words
Spiritual leadership is not about accumulating followers, gaining recognition, or adopting popular trends. It is about cultivating character, upholding truth, and seeking divine closeness through humility, patience, justice and mindfulness.
The Quran provides a clear criterion in Surah Al-Furqan (25:63–74) for identifying the genuine Servants of God (Ibad ur Rehman). These individuals embody qualities that transcend mere words; they reflect righteousness in action and character. Let us not be deceived by appearances.
Humility and Dignity – They walk with grace, free from arrogance, and respond to ignorance with words of peace (25:63).
Devotion – They spend their nights in prayer, seeking closeness to God (25:64).
Mindfulness of Justice – They are conscious of divine laws, avoid wrongdoing, and strive for righteousness (25:65).
Moderation – They neither squander nor withhold wealth but maintain a just balance in their spending (25:67).
Moral Integrity – They do not associate others with God, commit murder unjustly, or engage in unlawful sexual relations. Those who violate these principles will face consequences (25:68).
Truthfulness and Restraint – They do not bear false witness, and when they encounter harmful or ill speech, they pass by with dignity (25:72).
Wisdom and Reflection – They are not blind followers but heed divine guidance with awareness (25:73).
Righteous Leadership – They pray for their families and themselves to be examples for others (25:74).
The moral lesson from these verses is clear: True servants of God are not those who claim righteousness, but those who live it. They reflect their faith in their actions, stand firm against falsehood, and embody wisdom and compassion.
